MYTHS ABOUT THE UN-CHURCH
1 Most un-church think and act like Anglo middle class with no church background
2 The un-church never attended church
3 The un-church cannot be reach by direct personal evangelism
4 The pastor must be a dynamic and charismatic leader for the church to reach the un-church
5 We must be careful in our training and preaching so that we don’t communicate difficult and complex truths that will confuse the un-church
7 The Sunday school and small groups are ineffective in attracting the un-church

GUIDELINES
- Use common language, not religious terms that can be understood by the lost people
- Avoid being argumentative
- Listen without interruption when the other person is talking
- Avoid trying to shame others with what they do not know
- Recognize that no means no, at least for the time being
- In explaining new concepts, start with something the person understands and move toward new ideals or truth
- Try to maintain good will so that you can engage in future conversatioins
- Avoid talking down other religions groups or individuals
- Remember that people have intellectual limits, so do not overwhelm them with too much scripture
- Avoid embarrassing the lost person
- Talk with people, not down to them
- Try to leave with a win/win approach, not create winner and loser
- Maintain control, even if you are attacked or questioned

HOW CAN WE INCREASE OUR CHANCES TO WIN THE LOST
- By modeling the Christian life
- By praying for the lost person by name
- By asking God’s forgiveness for the sins of city
- BY reaching into the larger community
- By clearly presenting and clarifying the gospel message
- By allowing people to move along in stages, if they are not responsive to large moves
- By learning to ask good questions to check for clarity of the message
- By becoming emotionally and relationally engaged with lost people
ENAVGELISTIC METHODS THAT MEKES SENSE
- Following the leading of the Holy Spirit
- Act in integrity in all situations
- Maintain positive relationships with family, neighbors, and coworkers over the short and long term
- Deal with people according to the person’s distance from the gospel
- Team with others members to minister to and include nonbelievers in social and church activities
