MODEL THE POTENTIAL LEADERS

Modeling is a necessary part of the nurturing process; the leadership must model a strong work ethics, responsibility, character, openness, consistency, communication, and belief in people.

Modeling- the process begins with the leader doing the task, while the person being trained watches.   The leader gives the trainee the opportunity to see him or go through the whole process.   When people see the task perform correctly and completely, it gives them something to try to duplicate.

MENTOR THE POTENTIAL LEADER

Mentor- during this next step, the leader continues to perform the task, but this time the trainee comes along side to assist in the process. The leader also take time to explain not only the how, but also the why of each step.

MONITOR THE POTENTIAL LEADER

The leader exchanges places this time; the trainee perform the task and the leader assist and correct.   It is especially important during this phase to be positive and encouraging to the trainee.  It keeps him or her trying and it makes him want to improve rather than give up.    Work with him until he develops consistency; once he has gotten down the process, ask him to explain it to you.   It will help him to understand and remember.

MOTIVATE THE POTENTIAL LEADER

The leader takes himself out of the task at this point and let the trainee go by himself.   The leader task is to make sure he knows how to do it without help- the leader continues to encourage him.

EQUIPING THE POTENTIAL LEADER

Effective equipping begins with asking questions; we ask them to determine the direction our equipping efforts must take.   If we don’t we nay find ourselves teaching the wrong people the wrong thing for the wrong purpose.

  1. Questions about the church
A What is the church statement of purpose?
B What is the primary need of the church
  2. Questions about the leader
A  Is the leader willing to pour her self into others?
B  Is the leader  commit to being an equipper for the church?
  3. What assumptions has the leader made, that needs to be change?

People often get a false first impression of other people; many time leaders build their expectations of the people they will develop on assumptions from those false first impressions.     When you are aware that you have made some assumptions, you can go beyond the superficial and move to a new level in your relationship with your potential leaders.  It allows you to better understand where they are what they need and what you can provide them.

HOW TO EQUIP FOR EXCELLENCE

Develop a personal relationship with the people you equip; as your people get to know and like you, their desire to follow your direction and learn from you will increase.  To build relationships begins by listening to people life stories, their journeys so for.  Your genuine interest in them will mean a lot to them.  It will also help you to know their personal strengths. While getting to know your people, share your dreams; it will help them to know you and where you are going. There is a difference between interest and commitment; when you are interest in doing something, you do it only when it is convenient; when you are commitment to something, you accept no excuses.

Biblical authority:
 Ephesians 4:12
For the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up the body of Christ.

The goal of Golden Street Baptist Church is to train as many people as possible.   So that, the work of Lord and savior can continue.
